Privacy policy
We collect as little as possible. The calculators run entirely in your browser, and nothing you type into them is sent to us.
What we collect
- Calculators: your inputs stay in your browser. The full calculator puts them in the page address so you can copy a link to your estimate; if you share that link, the inputs go with it.
- Share-what-you-paid answers: the treatment details you enter (type, who had it, state, optional city or area, year, prices, payment and length). We don't ask for your name or email, and your answers are saved without your IP address. Separately, to block spam, we keep a salted one-way hash of your IP address in a short-term list; entries older than an hour are deleted the next time the form is used.
- Emails you send us: your address and message, so we can reply.
- Server logs: our web host keeps standard logs (IP address, pages requested, browser type) for security and to keep the site running.
Cookies and similar storage
We don't use analytics or advertising cookies, and we set no cookies of our own.
Who we share data with
- Our web host (Hostinger) stores the site, the server logs and the survey answers on our behalf.
- We publish reader-reported prices only as averages. We don't sell or rent survey answers or email addresses.
How long we keep it
- Survey answers: for as long as we publish averages based on them.
- Hashed IP addresses for spam blocking: removed once they are more than an hour old, the next time the form is used.
- Emails: as long as needed to deal with your message.
- Server logs: according to our web host's retention settings.
Your choices and rights
You can decline cookies and the site works the same. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for advertising. Email hello@bracesprices.com and we will respond within the time the law allows. Survey answers are anonymous, so we may not be able to tell which one is yours.
Children
This site is meant for adults, including parents researching treatment for a child. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. The survey asks about a child's treatment but never for a name or contact details.
